For those of you paying attention, yesterday’s festivities were festive, albeit a bit long, although I did manage to sneak in a nap. I did miss out on Endless Meat, however, but in the interests of keeping a deathgrip on my money, it was probably for the best. Also managed to come in under budget despite taking a taxi home at the end of the night (paintball was a lot more exertion than I am used to anymore, it was 3AM, and I was already resigned to spending the money anyway, so I said to myself: why not?)
Anyhoo, I kept mucking about with that one scattery brush from last week, along with burning and dodging (a pair of dragony art terms if ever such existed):
I actually ended up doing this all as one layer, which was a little less forgiving, though it kind of gave me some insight as to how dodge and burn interact- saturation seems to play a part that I don’t quite understand yet. Also, trying to work in some more solid edges (like with the eye and teeth) with a (so-called) soft brush just made things look strange. I really dig the texture that the scatter leaves, but my gut-level reaction is to clean up all those floaty bits at the edges, and I’ve yet to really reconcile the two. I also need to play around and make those brushes that I said I wanted to make last week, but I guess we’ll take it one step at a time.
