I read Marie Brennan’s A Natural History of Dragons, and came away a little disappointed. Mostly because I expected more dragons, or at least more “natural” science than there was in the book (and what there was was interesting enough), but the story was buried under a formidable pile of Good Manners and human interaction.
I can’t really recommend it unless you’re in the mood for a smart, spunky heroine sassing and romancing (kind of) her way through a faux-Victorian world, in which case it will probably surpass your expectations.
