So instead of revisiting last night’s homage, I chased the dragon and drew a bit of inspiration from the deceptively subtle jaws of an alligator:
I started with the underbelly scales and then decided that I ought to do something interesting with the mouth, hence the gator-referencing. Then, I figured that since the ventral side was so plated out, I should do something for the dorsal side as well… And somewhere in my head, it stuck that the dorsal plates were shiny. I don’t think that the eye is quite right, but I’m pleased.
