So, wearily (it’s kind of a long story) climbing back into the saddle tonight, I catually painted (or at least tried to paint) something tonight:
The scale pattern was the result of playing with the Texture option on the Brush palette; I’m not sure that I like it. The halo effect was purely unintentional; it was the result of using a low-hardness brush up against a transparent background- I didn’t realize that it was so fuzzy around the edges until my time ran out and I put the green behind. I wanted to try to make the projections (I never really decided if they were spikes, large scales, leaves or what) hard-edged and shiny, but somewhere along the line (probably while playing with the Texture option), I managed to break my brushes and spent 20 minutes freaking out and trying to fix them.
It’s a far cry from perfect, but it’s not bad for having been away from the proverbial game for so long.
